Research Scientist-I, Biotechnology Research And Innovation Counsil-National Brain Research Centre (BRIC-NBRC) (2025 - present)

Recurrence-Based Characterization of Sleep Dynamics in Intracranial EEG

This work focuses on characterizing neural rhythms across sleep stages using tools from nonlinear dynamics and time-series analysis. By treating neural oscillations as interacting dynamical systems, we aim to develop model-based interpretations of brain-state transitions during sleep.

Past Projects

1.Postdoctoral Fellow, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (2023 - 2025)

(i) Classification of Eclipsing Binaries via Recurrence Analysis

We propose a new classification method for close binary stars based on nonlinear dynamical patterns in Kepler light curves using recurrence analysis.

(ii) Early Warning Signals in Astrophysical Transients

Developing indicators based on recurrence patterns to detect impending state transitions in X-ray binaries and other variable sources. Focused on identifying dynamical precursors to astrophysical outbursts.

2. Ph.D., University of Mumbai – Department of Physics (2014 - 2022)

Nonlinear Dynamical Modelling of Swaying of Branched Structures

Studying tree swaying as a nonlinear dynamical system via chimney-like models, with a focus on oscillatory instabilities, hyperchaos, and synchronization.

3. Project Assistant, DBT-ICT-CEB, Mumbai (2011 - 2014)

Worked on determining the concentration of individual dyes in mixtures by analyzing their emission spectra through spectral decomposition methods.

4. Summer Fellowship, University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences under IASc-INSA-NASI Summer Research Fellowship Programme in 2010 (May-Jun 2010)

Investigated the flagellar dynamics of Chlamydomonas by processing time-lapse microscopy videos with custom tracking tools.
